CHAPEL HILL — Cassidy Coleman of Western Alamance High School and Justin Jarvis of Lake Norman High School were named recipients of the NCHSAA Performance of the Week awards.
Each week, two athletes in North Carolina High School Athletic Association competition are selected for this award from nominations submitted by media and school administrators.
Coleman, a junior on the Western Alamance Softball team, went 3-4 at the plate, collected 3 RBIs, stole 1 base and 2 runs in the 15-2 win over county rival Walter Williams. She hit a single, triple and home run in the game, which gave her a .750 batting average and .750 on base percentage for the game.
Jarvis, a senior on the Wildcat’s baseball team, threw a perfect game in the 5-0 win over East Rowan. He struck out 14 of the first 15 Mustang batters and finished the game with a total of 18 strike outs. Only two batters put the ball in play. A fly out to left field and a ground out to 2nd base, with the other out from a foul fly out along the 1st base line. He accomplished the perfect game with just 78 pitches.
Weekly recipients will be recognized on the NCHSAA Website and social media pages. They will also be honored at a banquet for all recipients from this year on April 28th. The deadline for nominations is each Monday at 5 p.m. through the online form that can be found here.
