CHAPEL HILL— Jay Huff of Voyager Academy and Nyjanique Langley of North Pitt High School have been named recipients of the NCHSAA Performance of the Week awards, powered by Time Warner Cable SportsChannel with Jersey Mike’s Subs®.
Each week two athletes in North Carolina High School Athletic Association competition are selected for this award from nominations received from media and school administrators.
Huff had a triple-double in the 1A NCHSAA State Basketball Championship game this past weekend as he led the Vikings to their first state championship. He put up 14 points, brought down 14 rebounds and had 10 blocks. The 6’11” senior forward was also named ‘Player of the Game’ by Maxpreps for his performance.
Langley, a sophomore, scored 20 points in the 68-65 win over East Davidson in the women’s 2A NCHSAA State Basketball Championship game with 14 of them coming in the third quarter as the Panthers were down by 13 at the half. This impressive shooting sparked the team to their second state title in school history.
TWC SportsChannel typically announces the winners of the awards during its Tuesday night Sports Night show and will recognize the winners throughout the week. Weekly recipients will also be recognized via Twitter and Facebook.
