New Members & Leadership Team Selected for NCHSAA Board of Directions
During the Business Meeting of the NCHSAA on Thursday, May 4, the membership voted on the new members of the Board of Directors. This followed the work of the Nominating Committee on Monday, April 3, 2023 at the Association offices in Chapel Hill. The committee members reviewed the NCHSAA Articles of Incorporation, namely Bylaw II relating to the Board of Directors and Bylaw III relating to Officers. Those two bylaws spell out in detail, the make-up of the board of directors, as well as the officers of the Board. The committee studied and reviewed all names submitted at regional meetings and/or on-line.
The following members were nominated by Chairman Marc Payne, representing the Nominating Committee, and voted into office for the 2023-2024 school year:
President – Chris Blanton, Watauga Co. Schools
Vice President – Stephen Gainey, Randolph Co. Schools
Past President – Rob Jackson, Buncombe Co. Schools
Henry Rice, Athletic Director, Pamlico Co. Schools – Reg 2, Class 1A
Valarie Bridges, Superintendent, Edgecombe Co. Schools – Reg 3, class 1A
Jim Butler, Principal, Richmond Sr. High – Reg 4, Class 4A
Allen Plaster, Athletic Director, East Forsyth High – Reg 5, class 4A
Don Phipps, Superintendent, Caldwell Co. Schools – Reg 7, Class 4A
Roy Turner, Affiliate Member representing the NC Athletic Directors Association
The new members and new officers assume their positions on July 1.
