CHAPEL HILL— Dylan Garcia from Franklin High School and Jacob Koerner from Cuthbertson High School have been named recipients of the NCHSAA Performance of the Week award. Each week two athletes in North Carolina High School Athletic Association competition are selected for this award from nominations received from coaches, media, and school administrators.
Garcia, a Senior on the Franklin Track & Field team, set a school record in the 800m run last week. Her time of 2:21 currently ranks 5th in the NCHSAA competition this season and gives Garcia her fourth school record.
Koerner, a Senior on the Cuthbertson Track & Field team, set three school records last week. Jacob ran a 10.60 100m, a 21.24 200m, and was the anchor on the 4x100m relay that ran a 42.34 mark. These times are currently tied for first, first, and second respectively in the NCHSAA competition this season.
Weekly recipients will be recognized on the NCHSAA Website and social media pages. The deadline for nominations is each Monday at 5 p.m; through the online form that can be found here.
