CHAPEL HILL— Jaclyn Kenzel from Pinecrest High School and Eli Carr from A.C. Reynolds High School have been named recipients of the NCHSAA Performance of the Week award. Each week two athletes in North Carolina High School Athletic Association competition are selected for this award from nominations received from coaches, media, and school administrators.
Kenzel led the Pinecrest Women’s Golf Team to a 4A State Championship last week recording a 71 for both rounds. Her total score of 142 earned the senior golfer Medalist honors as Pinecrest posted a team score of 450.
Carr broke the A.C. Reynolds’ school passing record on Friday night completing 26 of 32 passes for 446 yards and 6 touchdowns. The senior quarterback led the Rockets to a conference championship by way of a 56-14 win over West Henderson.
Weekly recipients will be recognized on the NCHSAA Website and social media pages. They will also be honored at a banquet for all recipients from this year in April. The deadline for nominations is each Monday at 5 p.m through the online form that can be found here.
