September 2, 2000             On this day in history in the NCHSAA, Cline Ingle of Burns High School booted the longest field goal in NCHSAA history when he kicked a 61 yarder against Shelby. Fittingly, he eclipsed the old NCHSAA record of 58 yards set by Shelby’s Tyler Ashe in 1995.
