SALISBURY— Ronnie Gallagher, sports editor of the Salisbury Post, died suddenly this morning, according to a story posted on the newspaper’s web site. August 30, 1968 On this day in history in the NCHSAA, Wilson’s Fike High School opened defense of its North Carolina High School Athletic Association state football championship but was shut out by Winston-Salem R.J. Reynolds 9-0.  Fike rebounded, however,  under head coach Henry Trevathan and went on to win the ’68 crown.
