OAKBORO–Chad Yow has been named the head baseball coach at West Stanly High School, according to a press release.

Yow is a 2002 West Stanly graduate, where he was Rocky River Confererence Player of the Year in baseball in 2002. He went on to attend Wingate University and was the Bulldogs number-one starter in the pitching rotation for three years.

Yow has one previous year of head coaching experience, at North Stanly in 2009 after serving as assistant coach there under JP Culp, who is now the current Olympic head coach in Charlotte. Yow served as assistant coach under former West Stanly head coach David Lee for the last two seasons. Lee left West this past summer to serve as assistant football and baseball coach at Richmond Senior High School.

Yow takes over a West Stanly Colts program that has won 10 conference championships in the last 13 years but is coming off two consecutive third-place finishes in the Rocky River Conference. Chad teaches math at West Stanly and is married to Tricia Yow, and they have one daughter, Melania.
