BURLINGTON— Walter Williams High School has announced its new men’s basketball coach, according to the Burlington Times-News.
Former Northern Guilford coach Ryan Freeman will take over the reins at Williams. Freeman has coached at both Northern Guilford and New Bern, and his teams have compiled a record of 90-38 overall.
Freeman will take over from veteran coach Tommy Cole, who actually coached both the men’s and women’s teams last season. Cole will continue to coach the women, who were the NCHSAA state runners-up last year in the 3-A classification.
The new Williams coach graduated from Elon in 2000. He earned a masters degree from the University of North Carolina at Pembroke.
