West Montgomery High School had an outstanding 2013 football campaign, marching the whole way into the NCHSAA 1-AA championship game, and one of the key components to the West Montgomery success was kicker Walker Harrison.
Harrison’s performance during ’13 as well as some of his career numbers have earned him several performance listings in the NCHSAA Record Book.
His 94 points after touchdown in a season are tied for seventh place all-time in the state, and his 118 total points kicking during the year are good for a tie for third with Mount Airy’s Tyler Hull. Tyler Lewis of Albemarle scored 130 points with his foot in two different seasons, both 2001 and ’02, which is the current state record in that category.
Harrison also had 189 points after touchdown for his four-year career, which puts him in fifth place on that list.
Our thanks to West Montgomery athletic director and head football coach Nick Eddins for supplying appropriate documentation to add Harrison to the record book.
