BENSON—Jimmy Williams, head football coach at West Johnston High School, will add the duties of athletic director this year, according to a report in the Raleigh News and Observer.
Williams has been a teacher and coach at West Johnston since 2011 and before that was an excellent head football coach at East Wake. He has 24 years of coaching experience, including the sports of football, wrestling and track.
Williams will take over for Warren Singleton, who will remain at the school as varsity softball coach.
“We are thrilled to announce Jimmy Williams as our new athletic director,” said principal Paula Coates, according to the newspaper. “Coach Williams has both the experience and the enthusiasm necessary for this position, and I am confident he will do a great job leading our athletic program.”
