West Bladen High School’s Courtney Thompson has completed her career in basketball at her school, but her accomplishments have earned her spots in the North Carolina High School Athletic Association record book.
Thompson finished her career with 1,404 career rebounds for West Bladen, which is good for fourth place all time among those figures which have been documented. Nakisha Stewart of Bunn collected the most rebounds of any player in the five-player game in a career with 1,553 during her career from 2001 to ’05.
Thompson also pulled down a career high of 31 rebounds in a game against Midway on February 11, 2014, to earn a spot on the performance listing in that category. West Bladen won that game 38-22.
The state record is 36, held by Michelle Richardson of Columbia against Cape Hatteras in 1992.
Our thanks to coach Pam Stephens of West Bladen for submission of the record applications.
