Each week two athletes in the North Carolina High School Athletic Association are selected for the Performance of the Week Award, Powered by OrthoCarolina. These athletes are nominated by coaches, media and school administrators for their outstanding performance.
The OrthoCarolina Performers of the Week for week eight of NCHSAA competition are Emily Scott from North Johnston and Gabriel Bolivar from Pine Lake Prep.
Scott, a senior on the Panthers tennis team, won the Neuse 6 2A Conference singles title without losing a single game. She will move on to the postseason with a record of 16-3.
Bolivar, a senior running back, ran for 416 yards and six touchdowns on 37 carriers as the Pride beat Carver 60-44. Pine Lake Prep is no 7-1 on the year and Bolivar leads the state in rushing yards according to MaxPreps.com.
