WEEK 29 | 2023-24 ORTHOCAROLINA PERFORMANCE OF THE WEEK

Each week two athletes in the North Carolina High School Athletic Association are selected for the Performance of the Week Award, Powered by OrthoCarolina. These athletes are nominated by coaches, media and school administrators for their outstanding performance.

The OrthoCarolina Performers of the Week for week 29 of NCHSAA competition are Maya Ciocian from T.C. Roberson and Kelvyn Paulino Jr. from Ledford.

Ciocian, a women’s lacrosse player for the Rams, led T.C. Roberson to two huge wins this week. Maya scored 13 goals in the Rams’ win over Hickory. Her week of dominance didn’t stop there as she went on to score another eight goals against St. Stephens. She also reached the milestone of 200 career goals this week. Congratulations Maya!

Paulino Jr, a junior baseball player from Ledford, had an outstanding week at the plate. Kelvyn batted .571 on the week in three games. He had five RBI’s, three of them coming from his 3-run homerun on Thursday. This was a part of a three-hit game where Kelvyn’s bat helped the team when they needed him the most that night. He went on to get the game winning hit in the bottom of the 7th to lead the Panthers to a win.
