WEEK 22 | 2023-24 ORTHOCAROLINA PERFORMANCE OF THE WEEK

Each week two athletes in the North Carolina High School Athletic Association are selected for the Performance of the Week Award, Powered by OrthoCarolina. These athletes are nominated by coaches, media and school administrators for their outstanding performance.  

The OrthoCarolina Performers of the Week for week 22 of NCHSAA competition are Ria Wright from West Caldwell and Reggie Daniel from Mountain Island Charter. 

Wright, a senior women’s wrestler for the Warriors, won her second straight Regional Championship this past weekend at North Henderson High School. She pinned three opponents, and was winning 13-0 in the finals before the match was stopped due to injury time. Ria was selected as the tournament’s Most Outstanding Wrestler and also reached an outstanding 100 career wins after winning in the first round.

Daniel, a senior track and field athlete for the Raptors, finished first in the high jump, 55-meter hurdles, and 4x200m relay, while finishing 2nd in the triple jump at the conference championships. This stellar performance earned Reggie the conference MVP award and all-conference in four events and he played a major role in the Raptors 2023-2024 Men’s Conference Team Championship.
