WEEK 11 | 2023-24 ORTHOCAROLINA PERFORMANCE OF THE WEEK

Each week two athletes in the North Carolina High School Athletic Association are selected for the Performance of the Week Award, Powered by OrthoCarolina. These athletes are nominated by coaches, media and school administrators for their outstanding performance.

The OrthoCarolina Performers of the Week for week 11 of NCHSAA competition are Carrie Marion from Mount Airy and Gabriel Schmid from Orange High School.

Marion, a junior tennis player for the Granite Bears, was named the MVP for Mount Airy as they won their third consecutive NCHSAA 1A Dual Team State Championship. She finished the season 25-0 in singles and 26-4 in doubles.

Schmid, a senior cross country runner for the Panthers, defended his NCHSAA 3A Cross Country Individual Championship and set a new 3A course record at Ivey Redmon Sports Complex. He bested his time from 2022 by 30 seconds and posted the sixth fasted time ever at Ivey Redmon.
