MORGANTON– Brandon Allen is leaving Tuscola High School to take over as head football coach at Freedom High in Morganton, according to various media reports including the Asheville Citizen-Times.
Allen was the head coach at North Buncombe in 2011 and then guided the Tuscola program for the next two seasons.
Allen is a 1994 graduate of Pisgah High in Canton who played his college football at Mars Hill. He served as an assistant coach at both Mountain Heritage and Tuscola before taking the head job at North Buncombe.
Tuscola posted an 8-4 record during the 2013 season. Allen will take over for Blair Hardin, who resigned at Freedom after one season to become the head coach at North Myrtle Beach (SC).
Freedom has won 10 or more games in each of the last four seasons.
