TIM BENNETT, MICHAEL FORAN , AND LISA FOWLER RECEIVE AUGUST MOE’S HOMETOWN HERO AWARDS

Chapel Hill, N.C. – Moe’s Southwest Grill locations in the Triangle, in conjunction with the North Carolina High School Athletic Association (NCHSAA), have selected Tim Bennett from Chapel Hill High School in Chapel Hill, N.C., Officer Michael Foran from Broughton High School in Raleigh, N.C., and Lisa Fowler from Beddingfield High School in Wilson, N.C., as recipients of the Moe’s Hometown Hero award for the month of August.

The Moe’s Hometown Hero program offers a platform where school administrators, personnel, parents, students, and school community members can nominate deserving individuals for special recognition on a monthly basis during the school year. Individuals can be nominated as a Moe’s Hometown Hero for serving as a community role model and making a difference in the lives of the students and schools, exhibiting sound citizenship and community service, excelling in academics and/or athletics (students) and/or positively impacting their peers. Currently, this platform is available to a targeted group of NCHSAA member high schools located within the Triangle area. Each recipient receives a commemorative award and a Moe’s Southwest Grill gift certificate.

Tim Bennett is the Athletic Director at Chapel Hill High School. As Chapel Hill High School undergoes campus construction this year, Bennett has managed the complexity of utilizing off-campus facilities with a smile on his face and contagious enthusiasm. A parent of a student-athlete at Chapel Hill High School says, “He genuinely cares about the students and athletes…Tim is not a person who seeks recognition, but he is certainly worthy of the Moe’s Hometown Hero recognition for his behind-the-scenes work in making the Chapel Hill Athletics program a success!”

Recipient Officer Michael Foran is a school resource officer at Broughton High School. Officer Foran dedicates his time to meet with students and staff and assists in everyday procedures at the school. Assistant Principal Michael MacGovern says of Officer Foran, “He goes above and beyond the call of duty daily to serve and protect our students at Broughton High School…He has a great sense of humor that he shares with staff and students, to create a positive, charming and inclusive atmosphere.”

The final recipient of the August 2018 Moe’s Hometown Hero awards is Lisa Fowler of Beddingfield High School. Fowler is currently the Data Manager at Beddingfield where she not only serves as the data manager, but also takes tickets at all home athletic events. Athletic Director Jody O’Neal says, “Lisa goes above and beyond the call of duty…she plays a vital role in the day-to-day activities at our school.”

"The North Carolina High School Athletic Association, in conjunction with Moe’s Southwest Grill of the Triangle, is proud to honor and recognize Tim Bennett, Officer Michael Foran, and Lisa Fowler with the August 2018 Moe’s Hometown Hero awards,” said Que Tucker, commissioner of the NCHSAA. “Each of the winners has demonstrated a willingness to surpass what is expected of him or her to positively impact the lives of the students and their respective communities. It is their dedication to their communities that truly make them Hometown Heroes."

“We are honored to recognize these outstanding leaders in our community,” said Jennifer Wade, franchisee and president of the Moe’s Southwest Grill® Triangle Co-op. “Moe’s is proud to support the Hometown Hero’s program, and we commend them on their continued dedication and leadership to the schools they support.”

Moe’s Southwest Grill locations in the Triangle have joined together with the NCHSAA for 2018 as the Official Triangle Fast Casual Restaurant Partner to offer the Moe's Hometown Hero recognition program.
