JACKSONVILLE—Former Swansboro High School coach and athletic director Ronnie Ross has been named for a special honor, according to the Jacksonville Daily News.
Ross will be among those being inducted on Saturday into the Jacksonville-Onslow Sports Commission in a ceremony at the Paradise Point Officers’ Club at Camp Lejeune. The event begins at 6 p.m.
He will be joined by former Jacksonville city manager and area sports contributor Ken Hagan in this year’s class.
Ross is a 1956 graduate of Swansboro who graduated from East Carolina University after a stint in the Navy. He enjoyed a 31-year career as a coach and athletic director, with 28 years at Swansboro where he coached football, basketball and baseball. He also worked at Jacksonville and Williamston.
Ronnie served on a number of NCHSAA committees and later was a member of the Onslow County Board of Education for many years. He was named to the 100 To Remember administrators list for the centennial celebration for the Association.
