Cindy Harrell joined the North Carolina High School Athletic Association in May of 2026 as the Director of Sports and Championships. Prior to her joining the NCHSAA, Cindy served as the Mountain West Officials Association Regional Supervisor of Volleyball for Western North Carolina since 2019. Harrell was a Volleyball, Basketball, and Softball Official in Florida for 6 years for the Space Coast, as well as an NCAA Volleyball Official. Harrell served as the Head Varsity Volleyball and Softball Coach in Florida at Coconut Creek High School and Hallandale All Magnet Schools for a combined 4 years. Harrell has been a volleyball, basketball, and softball coach since 17 years old, serving her community through coaching youth sports and later returning to Franklin High School as the JV Head Volleyball Coach, while assisting with Basketball and Baseball for 12 years and serving as Assistant to the Athletic Director for 3 years. Harrell also taught Project Management and led Student Leadership at Franklin High School.
Harrell graduated from Franklin High School in 1995, where she played Softball, Basketball, and Volleyball and was a Varsity Letter Winner for four years. She received All-Conference player all four years in Softball, receiving Player of the Week several times in her high school career.
Harrell received her Bachelor’s degree in Sport Management from Western Carolina University in Cullowhee, NC, with triple concentration in Athletic Administration, Sports Marketing, and Athletic Sales with a minor in Marketing.
Cindy resides in Durham County.
