Alex Bass joined the staff in September 2025 as Director of Development and Special Programs. Bass – a licensed teacher and school administrator, a previous full-time journalist, and a nationally certified athletic administrator (CAA) – has 25+ years of experience in education-based athletics, including as a classroom instructor, academic dean, standardized testing coordinator, coach, sports information director, and athletic director.

Bass holds a Bachelor of Arts (BA) degree in History from UNC-Chapel Hill and has earned three master’s degrees – in Teaching (MA, UNC-Charlotte), Educational Leadership (MS, Creighton), and Technical Communication (MS, NC State). His community service includes membership on a teacher of the year committee and on the board of directors for a nonprofit organization addressing food and housing insecurities.
