As Assistant Commissioner of Sports, Championships, and Compliance, Brad oversees the day-to-day and championship operations for men’s golf, women’s golf, men’s soccer, women’s soccer, swimming & diving, and baseball while serving as the compliance liaison for 436 member schools relative to rules and regulations.
Brad joined the NCHSAA staff in August 2010. He served the Association as the Assistant Director of Sports, Director of Sports and Championships, and Senior Director of Sports and Championships until July 2022. Committed to professional development, he is a Certified Master Athletic Administrator through the National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association and a Level 3 Coach through the National Federation of State High School Associations. Brad served a 4-year term, representing NFHS Section III, on the NFHS Swimming and Diving Rules Committee from 2018 through 2021. In 2022, Brad was awarded Athletic Director of Excellence by the North Carolina Athletic Directors Association.
A product of the NCHSAA, Brad attended Southern Durham High School as a four-year varsity player on the soccer and golf teams.
Following his graduation in 2003, he attended Mount Olive College, earning two bachelor’s degrees, a B.S. in Business Administration: Business Management and a B.S. in Recreation and Leisure Studies: Sports Management. Brad also competed for Mount Olive as a Men’s Golf Team member. His work earned him honors such as Dean’s List, President’s List, Academic All-Conference, and Conference Presidential Honor Roll. He was the 2005 Men’s Golf Team Coach’s Award Recipient.
After graduating from Mount Olive, Brad earned a Master of Science in Exercise and Sport Science: Sport Management from East Carolina University. While at ECU, he worked in the Athletic Ticket Office, where he assisted with football, basketball, and baseball event sales. To complete his master’s degree, he interned with the NCHSAA. His special project included collecting, analyzing, and presenting data for the NCHSAA Football Playoff “Pod System,” used from 2010 until 2013.
Brad and his wife, Tina, reside in Stem, NC, and are the proud parents of two daughters, Reese and Harper.
