South Stokes Freshman Standout Earns Performance Listing

A South Stokes High School freshman softball standout has earned a spot in the North Carolina High School Athletic Association state record book.

Katie Manring hit three home runs recently in a Stokes County battle between North and South.  Manring homered in the first, third and seventh innings as South Stokes nipped cross-country rival North Stokes 5-4. The two teams combined to hit eight homers in the contest, with all of South’s runs being accounted for with five solo home runs.

Manring is the 16th player documented to have hit three home runs in a single game in an NCHSAA softball game. The state record for home runs in a game is four.

       Congratulations to Katie Manring!
