South Robeson, North Meck Athletes Earn NCHSAA Performance of the Week Honors

CHAPEL HILL— A’Terria Quick of South Robeson and C.J. Bryce of North Mecklenburg are the winners of the North Carolina High School Athletic Association Performance of the Week awards, powered by Time Warner Cable SportsChannel with Subway® Restaurants.

Each week one male and one female athlete in NCHSAA competition are selected for this award from nominations received from media and school administrators.

Both athletes had outstanding games in the snow-challenged first week NCHSAA state basketball playoffs.

Quick, a 5-8 sophomore on the South Robeson women’s basketball team, poured in a career high 40 points to lead South Robeson to a come-from-behind playoff victory over Northwest Halifax. The point guard rallied her team from 11 down early in the game and a 38-33 halftime deficit to beat higher-seeded Northwest Halifax.  She is averaging 24.5 points per game on the season.

Bryce, a senior guard/forward for North Mecklenburg, led his team to a playoff victory over Charlotte Catholic by 83-61 in the first round of the 4-A tournament. Bryce tallied a career high 37 points to lead North Meck to the win.  He has signed to continue his career with the University of North Carolina at Wilmington.

TWC SportsChannel typically announces the winners of the awards during a SportsNight show and will recognize the winners throughout the week. Weekly recipients are also recognized via Twitter and Facebook.
