TROUTMAN—South Iredell High School has finally had its long winning streak in Catawba Valley Athletic Conference women’s soccer play snapped on Thursday night.
South Iredell’s string of CVAC victories was finally stopped at 53 after almost four years of play, as South fell to Newton-Conover 1-0 in action at South Iredell.
Kara Schell of Newton-Conover scored the only goal of the game in the first half.
South Iredell is now 15-2 overall and suffered its first loss of the CVAC season after having each of the last three conference titles with perfect 14-0 league marks. The victorious Red Devils are 15-1-1 and 10-1 in league play.
