Sandra Langley, veteran women's basketball coach at SouthWest Edgecombe High School, has shattered a remarkable barrier in terms of coaching victories and is approaching the North Carolina High School Athletic Association mark for most victories by a women's basketball coach.

     The Wilson Times reports SouthWest Edgecombe beat North Edgecombe 56-14 on Tuesday night, giving Langley 701 career wins. She has 670 wins at SouthWest, which is the record for most wins at a single school.

     SouthWest plays again Friday at home against Tarboro, a team they've already beaten, and then will face North Edgecombe in the Edgecombe County holiday tournament on December 29.

    Tom Pryor, a member of the NCHSAA Hall of Fame, currently holds the all-time victories mark as a women's basketball coach as reported to the NCHSAA with 702.  He achieved a large number of his victories at Edneyville.
