Salisbury Women’s Basketball Coach Steps Down

SALISBURY—Salisbury High School head women’s basketball coach Doug Faison has resigned from his coaching position, according to the Salisbury Post.

Faison coached the team through the prestigious Sam Moir tournament over the Christmas holidays. Salisbury fell to West Rowan 62-48 in the championship game of the 41st annual event, snapping a Salisbury streak of nine consecutive tournament championships.

Assistant coach Tony Hillian, who is a former head coach of the women’s team at North Rowan, has taken over as head coach.

Faison had been an assistant at Salisbury for several years and last year was an assistant coach at Jesse Carson before returning to Salisbury as head coach. He had been in coaching for some 45 years.
