POTW Week 8 Winners

Each week two athletes in the North Carolina High School Athletic Association are selected for the Performance of the Week Award, Powered by OrthoCarolina. These athletes are nominated by coaches, media, and school administrators for their outstanding performance.

The OrthroCarolina Performers of the Week for week eight of NCHSAA competition go to Alyssa Smith and Kate Phillips from Franklin High School and Isaac Mireless from Southern Lee High School. 

Alyssa (Senior) and Kate (Sophomore) from Franklin High School won the 3A west doubles tennis regionals this week.  Alyssa and Kate have remained undefeated during the entire regular season and through the conference tournament. They have also led their team to its first ever undefeated season. This weekend Alyssa and Kate captured Franklin's 2nd ever regional title in Women's Tennis (1st in nearly a decade) with dominant wins and showed great grit and heart when faced with adversity in the championship rounds on day 2. 

Isaac a Senior at Southern Lee High School scored 5 goals to help defeat cross-town and conference rival Lee County High School 5-4 during the school conference match. Earlier in the week Isaac scored 2 goals to help Southern Lee defeat Union Pines.  Total Isaac had 7 goals during the week.  His Southern Lee High School team is 9-9 and looks to finish the season strong! 

Congratulations to Alyssa Smith and Kate Phillips of Franklin High School and Isaac Mireless of Southern Lee High School on an outstanding performance last week!!
