POTW Week 20 Winners

Each week an athlete in the North Carolina High School Athletic Association is selected for the Performance of the Week Award, Powered by OrthoCarolina. These athletes are nominated by coaches, media, and school administrators for their outstanding performance. 

The OrthroCarolina Performer of the Week for week twenty of NCHSAA competition goes to Katie Bell Sikes of Orange High School and Daneesha Briggs of Beddingfield High School. 

Daneesha Briggs has been lights out from three all season for Beddingfield High School. She has just come off a 50-point performance against Goldsboro High School in which she set the NCHSAA record for most made threes in a half with 12! She tied the NCHSAA record for most made threes in a game with 13. She became the 20th girl in NCHSAA history to score at least 50 points in a game. Daneesha continues to lead her squad on and off the court as a senior leader on the team.  

Katie Belle Sikes has been on a dominant run in the Central 3A Conference this season. She was named Central 3A’s Conference Swimmer of the Year and her team won the conference championship. In route to these accomplishments, Katie was on a tear in her recent meet, placing first in the 100 yard Freestyle, 100 yard Backstroke, 200 yard Medley Relay (anchor leg), and 200 yard Freestyle Relay (anchor leg). She set a new school record in the 100 yard Backstroke and now holds 5 individual school records. She has qualified for all eight events for Regionals and will be looking to add to her own personal record book! 

Congratulations to Katie Bell Sikes of Orange High School and Daneesha Briggs of Beddingfield High School on an outstanding performance last week!!
