GREENVILLE— High schools in Pitt County have been recognized by the National Athletic Trainers Association with Safe Sports School awards.
Ayden-Grifton, D.H. Conley, Farmville Central, J.H. Rose, North Pitt and South Central have all received Safe Sports School First Team recognition from the NATA. The award is bestowed for a three-year period.
The Pitt County schools are the first schools in North Carolina to be recognized.
All the schools received Safe Sports School First team designation for meeting a number of requirements in a thorough audit. Some of the items include providing and coordinating pre-participation physical examinations, creating a comprehensive athletic health care administrative system, promoting safe and appropriate practice and competition facilities, plans for selection fit, function and proper maintenance of athletic equipment, develop injury and illness prevention strategies, and provide or facilitate injury intervention, among other things.
We congratulate the Pitt County schools on this achievement.
