Pinyan Leaving Salisbury For Carson

PINYAN NEW HEAD FOOTBALL COACH AT CARSON

CHINA GROVE—Veteran head football coach Joe Pinyan is making a change, according to The Salisbury Post.

Pinyan is leaving Salisbury after 10 years to become the head football coach at Jesse Carson High School, also in Rowan County.

Pinyan will replace Mark Woody, who recently resigned as head football coach to take over as athletic director at Carson. Both Pinyan and Woody were assistant coaches at Mooresville at one point.

Salisbury became a real force in 2-A football under Pinyan. The Hornets averaged 10 wins a season under his tutelage and won the 2010 state 2-AA championship, beating Elizabeth City Northeastern 30-0 for the title.
