Congratulations to the OrthoCarolina Performance of the Month winners for May 2026, Pennson Badgett from East Surry and Sadie Oglesby from East Rutherford.
The month of May was quite special for the star freshman Sadie Oglesby out of East Rutherford High School. In nine games, she scored 14 goals and contributed nine assists. She broke a 28-year-old school record for the most goals scored in a single season with 31. Oglesby led her team to a second-place finish in the WPAC conference along with a first-round bye in the NCHSAA 3A Women’s Soccer playoffs. Oglesby was named the County Player of the Year by the Daily Courier.
Pennson Badgett was a history maker in the month of May. The University of Tennessee-commit shot a record-breaking 60 in the first round of the NCHSAA 3A Men’s Golf State Championship. This record was previously held by Hickory High School alum and current PGA Tour professional J.T. Poston. He shot a 67 in the final round to clinch an individual state championship and team state championship for the Cardinals. His two-day total of 127 also set a new NCHSAA Championship record.
