The coaching staffs have been named for the 2015 Shrine Bowl of the Carolinas high school all-star football game, which pits top seniors from North Carolina against their counterparts from South Carolina.
These coaches have been selected and approved to coach their respective teams in the 79th Annual Shrine Bowl Game to be played on Saturday, December 19, 2015, at Gibbs Stadium on the campus of Wofford College in Spartanburg, South Carolina.
Veteran head coach John Kirby of Eastern Alamance High School will be the head coach of the North Carolina squad.
Kirby finished his 23rd full season at Eastern Alamance this year, in which his team was undefeated until a third-round loss to Havelock in the NCHSAA class 3-A state playoffs. He was an assistant coach in the 2006 Shrine Bowl.
The coaching staff for North Carolina will include Bobby Curlings of New Bern, Antonio King of Durham Hillside, Shane Handy of Randleman, Mark Holcomb of North Davidson, Kelly Holder of Mount Airy and Charlie Metcalf of Asheville.
South Carolina holds a 44-30-4 edge in the series and has won the last three games, including a 21-12 victory in December.
