NORTH BUNCOMBE FRESHMAN GOLFER PUTS NAME IN RECORDS AGAIN
North Buncombe High School freshman Callista Rice has again added her name to a performance listing in the North Carolina High School Athletic Association Record Book, this time for an 18-hole achievement.
Rice shot an eight-under par 66 recently at the Marion Lake Golf Club, with an amazing 30 on the front nine. She had nine birdies and a bogey during her round.
There have been four 66’s carded during women’s golf regular season play, with the record at 64 held by Gabby Weiss of Pinecrest and set in September of this year.
Rice had earlier earned record book distinction with a couple of 31’s in nine-hole matches.
She has been medalist in all 11 of her regular season matches and has been named the female golfer of the year in the Mountain Athletic Conference.
Our thanks to coach Roger Buckner of North Buncombe for supplying the documentation.
