BAZZLE LEAVING NEWTON-CONOVER FOR ALEXANDER CENTRAL
NEWTON— The Observer-News-Enterprise has reported that Nick Bazzle is leaving Newton-Conover High School after a 24-year tenure on the football staff.
The Newton-Conover High School head football coach since 1999 has been named the new head football coach at Alexander Central High School. Bazzle replaces Tom Harper, who recently became head football coach and athletic director at Hickory High.
Bazzle joined the Newton-Conover High School football staff in 1987 and worked as an assistant under NCHSAA Hall of Famer Don Patrick. Prior to his stint at Newton-Conover, he served as head football coach for two years at his high school alma mater, East Lincoln.
Bazzle has compiled a 112-56 career coaching mark and led the Red Devils to three NCHSAA state championship games. Newton-Conover earned the NCHSAA state championship in 2008 with a 51-28 win over Tarboro. The Red Devils finished 5-7.
