Longtime Educator and NCHSAA Board Member Passed Away Unexpectedly

Brian K Edkins, 51, of Lumberton, passed away on Tuesday, July 6, 2021. 

"Mr. Edkins, whose career in public education spanned more than 25 years, served diligently in various capacities in Cumberland County Schools. During his tenure with the school system, he served as a teacher, safe school coordinator, assistant principal/athletic director, and principal of South View and Cape Fear high schools. He also served as the principal of Scotland High School."  Click here to see the announcement from Cumberland County School system.  Mr. Edkins also served as a Region 4 representative on the NCHSAA Board of Directors.

He was born in Sarasota, FL, on April 29, 1970. 

Left to cherish Brian's memory are his wife of 25 years, Susan; sons, Caleb Edkins, Hunter Edkins, and Landon Edkins; sisters, Delores Ralph and husband Walt, Barbara Edkins; and all of his students and faculty.

The family will welcome friends from 2 to 5 pm on Sunday, July 11, 2021, at Sullivan's Highland Funeral Service.  A memorial service is planned for 2 pm on Monday, July 12, 2021, at Fayetteville Community Church.
