Bill Carver

Bill Carver has made significant contributions to high school athletics as a coach, administrator and game official. A graduate of Fayetteville’s E.E. Smith High School and Hampton University, Carver spent 37 years of his career in Cumberland County, first as a successful coach in several sports at his high school alma mater. He coached at E.E. Smith in various capacities for 18 years before moving into administration, first for 10 years as assistant principal and athletic director at Smith and then as director of student activities for the county. An excellent high school and collegiate official, Carver is a member of the Central Intercollegiate Athletic Association (CIAA) Football Officials Hall of Fame. He is also a member of the North Carolina Athletic Directors Hall of Fame and for many years served as chairman of the nominating committee for the NCHSAA. Carver earned the National Interscholastic Athletic Administrators Association (NIAAA) Distinguished Service Award in 1999.
