STUDENTS FROM VANCE COUNTY & TRINITY EARN PERFORMANCE OF THE WEEK AWARDS

CHAPEL HILL— Emani Foster from Vance County High School and Andrew Hamilton from Trinity High School have been named recipients of the NCHSAA Performance of the Week awards. Each week two athletes in North Carolina High School Athletic Association competition are selected for this award from nominations received from media and school administrators.

Foster, a junior on the Vance County volleyball team, led the Vipers to the school’s first playoff appearance and first playoff victory as they defeated East Duplin in five sets. Foster recorded 57 kills in the match, setting a new NCHSAA State Record for kills in a single match. She also recorded an ace, 9 blocks, and 37 digs.

Hamilton, a senior on the Trinity men’s soccer team, scored two goals and an assist helping his team to a 7-0 win over T.W. Andrews on senior night. According to his coach, his defensive effort helped set up and create other goals on the night for the team. Hamilton helped lead his team to a 13-8 record and 9-3 mark in conference play.

Weekly recipients will be recognized on the NCHSAA Website and social media pages. They will also be honored at a banquet for all recipients from this year in May. The deadline for nominations is each Monday at 5 p.m through the online form that can be found here.
