NEW HANOVER TO RAISE STATE CHAMPIONSHIP BANNER




WILMINGTON– New Hanover High School will honor its 2012 North Carolina High School Athletic Association state championship men’s basketball team tonight during a special ceremony, according to the Wilmington Star-News.
New Hanover will commemorate its state crown as it raises a state championship banner in between the women’s and men’s varsity basketball games tonight against New Bern.
The school will be raising its 14th state championship banner for the sport. The Wildcats defeated West Charlotte in the NCHSAA 4-A championship game by a score of 67-56 and finished 30-1 for the 2011-2012 season. Kadeem Allen of New Hanover was the MVP of the title game.
New Hanover has won 14 NCHSAA men’s basketball titles, the most of any school in the state.
