Nadeau Leads D.h. Conley To 3-A State Softball Championship

GAME THREE

RALEIGH— Junior outfielder Danielle Nadeau had three hits and three runs batted in on Saturday afternoon as the Vikings beat Concord Jay Robinson 12-7 in the third and decisive game to clinch the North Carolina High School Athletic Association state 3-A softball championship series at Walnut Creek Softball Complex.

        Nadeau was selected as the championship series Most Valuable Player.

       Conley had sprinted to a 4-0 lead but Robinson tied it with four in its half of the second.  The Vikings responded with a five-spot in the third and cruised from there, banging out 12 hits. Rikki Oeters also had three hits for Conley, including a triple, and knocked in three runs for the winners.

       Alyssa Sciaudone had three hits and three RBI for Jay Robinson while Tori Zavodny drove home a pair of runs.

       Kesler Singleton was the winning pitcher while Keleigh Romine got the loss.

       D.H. Conley had evened the series earlier on Saturday by erupting for six runs in the top of the fifth to come from behind to take a 6-4 victory. Rachel Weidner was the winning pitcher and Singleton had two hits in three trips to the plate for the winners.

Jay Robinson had come from a run down in the seventh on Friday night and grabbed an eight-inning 4-2 victory in the series opener, with Romine getting the win.

The Vikings, who won the 2011 NCHSAA state championship, finished the season with a 24-6 record   while Jay Robinson wound up 29-4.

GAME TWO

D.H. CONLEY DRAWS EVEN WITH JAY ROBINSON WITH 6-4 WIN IN 3-A SOFTBALL SERIES

RALEIGH— D.H. Conley erupted for six runs in the top of the fifth inning to roar from behind and beat Concord Jay Robinson 6-4 on Saturday to even the North Carolina High School Athletic Association state 3-A softball championship series at Walnut Creek Softball Complex.

The Vikings, who won the 2011 NCHSAA state championship, are now 23-6. Game three of the series is scheduled for this afternoon at 2 pm.

Rachel Weidner was the winning pitcher and Kesler Singleton had two hits in three trips to the plate for the winners. Keleigh Romine led Jay Robinson with two hits but was the losing pitcher.

       Jay Robinson had come from a run down in the seventh on Friday night and grabbed an eight-inning 4-2 victory over Conley in the series opener, with soph pitcher Keleigh Romine getting the win.
