FAYETTEVILLE—Patricia Raye Robertson, a long-time game official in softball and volleyball, died earlier this week after a long battle with cancer, according to The Fayetteville Observer.
She had officiated for over 30 years and was a member of the USSSA’s North Carolina Hall of fame as an umpire
She was the sister of Jimmy Raye, a former football star at E.E. Smith High School in Fayetteville and Michigan State University who has been a National Football League assistant coach for many years.
The funeral is scheduled for Monday at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church on Moore Street in Fayetteville. Some of Robertson’s fellow officials are scheduled to serve as honorary pall bearers.
