Hickory Names Interim Basketball Coach

HICKORY– According to various media reports, including in The Observer-News-Enterprise, Lavell Hall has been named as the interim men’s basketball coach at Hickory High School.
Hall had most recently served as athletic director at Watauga High School before his retirement. He was also a highly successful basketball coach at Lincolnton, winning 216 games there in two different stints. The Wolves won four conference championships during that time.
He coached in the collegiate ranks at Appalachian State University, serving as an assistant coach from 1994 through 2003, during which time Appalachian won four Southern Conference championships and did make a trip to the NCAA tournament. 
Hall was a standout athlete at East Lincoln High School and played basketball at Wingate College.
