Hart To Take Over Men’s Basketball at South Caldwell

HUDSON—South Caldwell High School has announced that Darren Hart will be the new men’s head basketball coach at the school, according to a report in the Hickory Daily Record.

Hart, who played his high school basketball at South Caldwell, will be in his first varsity head coaching role.  He replaces Lee Swanson, who coached six seasons at South Caldwell but resigned in June to take over the Bunker Hill program in Catawba County.

Hart has been coaching junior varsity basketball at South as well as serving on the faculty there for the past five years and working as a varsity assistant coach.

The new coach is a graduate of Lenoir-Rhyne University and earned his master’s degree at Appalachian State.

South Caldwell was 3-21 a year ago but made the NCHSAA playoffs.
