Greensboro native John Isner, a former North Carolina High School Athletic Association men’s tennis singles champion, will play in the prestigious Davis Cup competition later this month, according to the Greensboro News and Record.
Isner is slated to play singles in the Davis Cup semifinals when the United States faces defending champion Spain. The matches are scheduled for September 14-16 in Gijon, Spain, and the winner will take on the winner of the other semifinal between the Czech Republic and Argentina for the Davis Cup championship.
Isner won the NCHSAA state 4-A singles championship in 2001.
