HOPE MILLS—Gray’s Creek High School softball star Sarah Watson fell just short in her bid to set a new record for runs batted in for a season, as she finished the year with 61 RBI, good for second place on the list.
But Watson also earned a number of other performance listings in the NCHSAA softball record book.
Watson batted a whopping .693 on the season, good for fifth place all-time for a single season batting average, and her career mark of .507 puts her 10th on that list.
She had 128 runs batted in for her career, good for a tie for eighth. She also earned spots with 52 hits in a season and 153 hits for her career. Watson had 20 doubles for the 2014 year, which is second all-t9me, and her 30 career two-baggers are good for seventh place in that listing.
Congratulations to Sarah Watson and our thanks to coach Stuart Gilmer for providing documentation for these marks.
