KERNERSVILLE—Melvin Heggie has been named as the new women’s basketball coach at Glenn High School, according to various media reports including the Winston-Salem Journal.

        Heggie has been an assistant coach in the women’s program at Greensboro Dudley for the past three years. He also has been an assistant at Ben L. Smith High in Greensboro.

        The 31-year-old coach is a 2005 graduate of North Carolina A&T State University who played basketball for four years at Southeast Raleigh High School.

        Heggie will replace Eugene Love as coach at Glenn. Love served at Glenn for five years but resigned to guide the women’s team at Winston-Salem Prep.
