Fred T. Foard Softball Players Earn Positions In NCHSAA Record Book

FRED T. FOARD SOFTBALL PLAYERS EARN POSITIONS IN NCHSAA STATE RECORD BOOK

NEWTON—Fred T. Foard High School, led by star pitcher Lexi Shubert, has had a number of players earn performance listings in the North Carolina High School Athletic Association Record Book.

Coach David Shubert provided the documentation for a number of listings, including 12 different ones by the Tigers’ outstanding pitcher, who was the 2012-13 Gatorade North Carolina Softball Player of the Year.

Among the performance listings achieved by Shubert was 727 1/3 innings pitched for her career, which is third all-time, just 20 innings behind Crystal Cox of Central Cabarrus, who graduated in 2002.  Shubert also is currently sixth in career victories with 89, eighth in shutouts in 49, and sixth all-time in strikeouts with 1,290.

Her career earned run average was 0.62, which is in the top 15 all time.

Some of the other listings include 26 wins, 15 shutouts and 390 strikeouts during the 2012 season to go with an 0.44 ERA.  Shubert’s 328 strikeouts in 2013 and a 10-inning performance in which she fanned 23 McDowell hitters in a 2-1 victory are also listed in the Record Book.

Two Bandys hitters made the single-season home run performance list, as Ashley Oliver hit 10 during the 2012 season and Addie Bolick had 10 homers in the 2013 campaign.

Our thanks to Fred T. Foard and coach David Shubert for providing a thorough accounting of the achievements of several Foard players for the NCHSAA Record Book.
