NEWTON—Andy Hodges is the new head men’s basketball coach at Fred T. Foard High School in Catawba County, according to a report in the Hickory Daily Record.

         Hodges will take over for Rob Bliss, a veteran coach who had headed the Foard program for three years who resigned to take a position as principal at Maiden High School. Bliss had also coached at East Burke and West Henderson.

         Hodges is an East Burke graduate who attended Appalachian State University, graduating in 1982.  He had been an assistant coach at Foard and was also an assistant at East Burke when Bliss was the head coach.  Hodges also served as an assistant coach at Bandys.
