CHARLOTTE— Former Carolina Panther football player Percell Gaskins has been named the new head football coach at Garinger High School, according to a report in the Charlotte Observer.
Gaskins, who is Garinger’s seventh head coach in 10 years, replaces Ryan Alston, who was relieved of his duties after going 0-19 over two seasons.
The new Garinger coach, age 41, grew up in Florida and played collegiate at Kansas State. He had stints with both the Rams and Panthers in the National Football League.
Garinger was 7-5 during the 2010 season but has had only five winning campaigns in the last 40 years, according to the Observer.
