FORMER NCHSAA STATE CHAMP HEADED TO LONDON– AS REFEREE
HIGH POINT– A former North Carolina High School Athletic Association state wrestling champion is heading to the Olympics– as an official, according to the High Point Enterprise.
Stacey Davis, who was a state wrestling champion at High Point Andrews and graduated in 1982, will be a referee in the wrestling competition in London, which is scheduled for August 5-12.
Davis and his twin brother Tracey went to T.W. Andrews and then graduated from the University of North Carolina in 1986. Davis has lived in the Atlanta area for the last 20-plus years.
Davis has officiated in both the European championships and last year’s World Championships in Istanbul, Turkey. Only three Americans will be working the wrestling competition out of 57 officials and judges.
T.W. Andrews is proud of its Red Raider champion who will work the Olympics, and we are appreciative that athletic director Ben Robinson based on the information to the NCHSAA. The complete feature can be found in the High Point Enterprise.
